What is Better, Botox or Mesotherapy

What is Botox & how can we achieve the same or even better results from Mesotherapy?

Clients have a desiring interest in cosmetic surgeries; however, they want a minimally invasive method with little to no down time to achieve their desired skin goals.

In modern society, aging has become an increasing concern. Especially aging of the face. This is a complex process that involves two important factors: loss of volume in the face, as well as continues muscle movements that cause fine lines and wrinkles.

Young skin vs Ageing Skin

Young Skin vs Ageing Skin

Approximately every month our skin renews itself when we are young. The deepest layer of the epidermis is mostly composed of keratinocytes and is responsible for renewing the skin. Keratin is produced by keratinocytes. Keratin is a protein that protects the skin from chemical products and bacteria.

Collagen As You Age

As you age the collagen production will slow down. It will however increase the production in response to damage. When your body detects damage and leakage of plasma due to an injury, it will initiate the wound healing process to repair the tissue.

Botox

According to Wikipedia, Botulinum toxin (Botox) prevents the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from axon ending at the neuromuscular junction, thus causing soft paralysis within 24 hours to 2 weeks after initial treatment. Results last anything from three to six months. The recommended dosage is 20 units.

Botox is a safe procedure to assist in the appearance of facial wrinkles.

Botox is generally injected into the facial muscles where expression shows.

These muscles are attached generally to the soft tissue and not to bones. Botox is used to reduce frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead creases, wrinkles around the mouth and even smooth wrinkles on the chest and cleavage area. However, Botox cannot prevent or treat other signs of aging such as dry skin, pigmentation and vascular abnormalities.

Side effects can include headaches following injections which will resolve within 2-4 weeks. There is also a possibility of bleeding, swelling and pain at the injection site. All these side effects will gradually resolve after the paralytic effect.

There are rarely any complications with Botox injections. Injections should be done at the right dosage with at least 1 cm from the superior, inferior or lateral margin of the orbital bone. Patients should not manipulate the injection site for 2-3 hours. The patient should also stay in an upright position for 3-4 hours.

Generally, Botox is seen as a safe treatment for reducing facial wrinkles. There are little possible complications and several techniques to help reduce any side effects.

Before & After 3 x Mesotherapy Treatments

The wrinkle removal treatment reduces dynamic wrinkles while maintaining a natural look. The main ingredient, Organic Silica, is a free radical blocker, anti-wrinkle, firming, collagen booster and anti-inflammatory. The Growth Factors act on your stem cells, they stimulate the formation of new cells and increase the cellular metabolism.

Mesotherapy

Clients seem to have an interest in cosmetic surgery, especially minimally invasive treatments with little to no down time to help enhance their facial appearance.

Mesotherapy is a technique used that involves microinjection with or without a needle to deliver a variety of ingredients into the middle layer of the skin. The ingredients can be homeopathic medication and/or vitamins to help promote healing or provide corrective treatment to a specific area of the body.

Dr. Michel Pistor from France invented Mesotherapy in 1958. It was developed to treat conditions in sports, traumatology, infectious diseases, vascular diseases and mainly as a pain-relieving technique.

The definition of Mesotherapy:

The Greek word mesos that means middle and therapy from Greek therapeia that means to treat medically.

It is a technique of using microinjections of conventional or homeopathic components to deliver a healing or corrective treatment to a specific area in the mesoderm/subcutaneous tissue.

How does the MED – JET needle free machine work?

The meso-jet is a high-workload, needle-free jet injector system. By creating a micro-thin pressure jet, the liquid penetrates through the skin and disperses in the soft tissue. The meso-jet uses controlled compressed air or Co2 gas as a power source for uninterrupted operation and permits subcutaneous injection of water-based and low viscosity oil-based drugs with great precision.

Difference Between The Injection Methods

Without a needle:

The injected medication disperses in a mist or spray effect as it enters the subcutaneous tissue. The minute fluid particles of medication are then in close contact with the absorbent tissue. The rate of absorption increases as the surface area to which the medication is exposed. The small penetration points result in a reduced trauma site.

With a needle:

The injected medication is deposited in a bolus or poo; of fluid, which displaces the surrounding tissue. It is then absorbed from the periphery to the surrounding tissue. It is hen absorbed from the periphery to the center of the bolus by the surrounding absorbent tissue. Due to the limited tissue contact, absorption in generally slower than with jet injection.

Treatment Sessions & Results

Botox

On average the recommended dosage for a frown line is 20 units. For men 40 units are recommended. The reason why men require more units is that they have a greater muscle mass than women.

The results from Botox can be seen between the first and fourth day following the treatment. After about 1-4 weeks the maximum results can be seen. Botox results can last up to 4 months.

Mesotherapy

With needleless injections, results can be seen after the first session with the best results after a series of 4 session. Dosage will vary anything from 3ml – 10ml active ingredient cocktail mix depending on the area and skin concern we are treating. Maintenance sessions are then done once every 3 – 4 months.
